We are incredibly proud of our Miss Audie...  After more than three years away from any obedience training whatsoever, she picked up a leg and a High in Trial at the Shetland Sheepdog Club of Anchorage specialty obedience trial in mid-July 2006.  She then finished her CD title at the Cook Inlet shows the first week of August 2006, just a few weeks later.

Audie is an incredibly fast, intelligent girl -- my beloved Red Rocket.  Voice commands during agility frustrate her -- she follows the direction of my feet and shoulders as I run the course --  We do best when I don't give a single voice command.  Because she's so fast and follows my body, it is very easy for me to make a mistake and pull her off an obstacle as a handler.

We've taken a break from agility for a time, but when we return, we will be working on teaching her to slow down and rate jumps better so that in her haste, she doesn't take down the bars.  She once ran a 45 second AKC course in around 27 seconds -- taking down a bar on the LAST obstacle!!!  (sigh)   She qualified for a NADAC leg with a blazing time similar to the one above.

I ran Miss Audie in lure coursing in the fall of 2002 -- she took to it like a fish to water.   One moment I was kneeling beside her with my hand on her back -- she was in a sit-stay.  The next moment there was a red hiney rapidly disappearing after the lure.  Naturally, she herded the lure all the way back when it was being returned to the starting position.

We took a break from the obedience training ring for about three years.  When our sheltie club held its second obedience & rally trial, I decided to enter her, but in the bustle of dog shows, forgot to start retraining her.  The night before the trial, we ran through about 20 minutes of refresher training.  The day of the trail, it was raining cats and dogs, and additional training wasn't possible.

Regardless, Audie went out there and successfully completed her first leg toward her CD, even going High in Trial (Keeper and one other dog who were ahead of her went down during the long sit).  Then she went on to get a leg in rally as well!  Go, Miss Audie!!!

Audie is one of my two heart dogs (favorite fur children) and chief bed warmer!

This is more her style...
