Journey
Journey is my import from Japan. We are very excited to have her, and very
grateful to Nanae Takenoshita of the reknowned Barkley Kennel in Osaka for
entrusting her to us.
Journey is a
beautiful blend of Banchory, Akirene and Barkley pedigrees. She shares
some of the same lineage as BIS Am/Can/Jpn Grand Ch Barkley's SS Pajero Junior
CD and Rod's recent import, Jpn Grand Ch Barkley's SS Pure Soul, a beautiful
tri dog also bred by Nanae Takenoshita, and who lives with and is shown by Rod
Oishi.

New triple champion, July 2005

Finishing with a Group Two
under Judge Ralph Ambrosio
Thank you, Renee Clayton for making Journey look
SO GOOD!!!
Journey has the
most incredible front, gorgeous arched neck, a stunning outline, angulated
rear, beautiful reach and drive, and an
alert, intelligent personality. She is a joy to live with and a
privilege to own.
We want this special
little girl to have fun, so we will be working on obedience and agility titles
in the near future. In the meantime, the hunt is on for the right sire for her
first litter of AKC puppies!
Journey is a
very entertaining dog, especially in the show ring. While stacking, she
will note the bait in your hand. She will then check to see if there is
any bait on the ground toward the center of the ring, check out the bait in
your hand once again, scan the crowd, noting eye color and the position of
each person in the audience. She will then return to the bait in your
hand, double check to see if any bait was thrown toward the center of the ring
during her crowd scan, and back to your bait again... back to the crowd to see
if anyone has moved, and then back to your bait. All in 1.8
seconds!
Look for great
things from Journey... she is an amazing little gal! (See
below for her show history.)

BOS over a
special under breeder judge Dr. Lee Reasin
for her first three Canadian points

Finishing her
Canadian title in fine style under
Judge Maurice Tougas
Show
History
On Tuesday,
October 26, 2004, Japanese Champion Journey arrived from Osaka. Her first words upon
arrival were, "Where's the party???"
On Wednesday, Thursday and
Friday, she partied, frisked, and played and endeared herself to all she met,
in the ring and out. On
Saturday, she got serious and went Winners Female and Best Opposite Sex over a special for three
Canadian points under Dr. Lee Reasin. What a way to
start her North American career!
She repeated
her three point win the very next day under Judge Jean Fournier, going BOS once
again.
With just
eleven days in North America under her belt, Miss Journey expanded her
show resume to include a five point AKC specialty major under Judge Leslie
Hiltz. What an amazing little girl!
Brainy as all
get-out too... Since arriving, she's had to learn a new language and a
whole new way of being shown (according to Rod, baiting in the sheltie ring is disallowed in Japan, and
double handling was the name of the game). Here in the U.S., we don't
allow double handling, and allow baiting in the ring! Very happy turn of
events for a chow hound!
UPDATE!!!
Journey
finished her Canadian championship under Judge Maurice Tougas on the first day of the
2005 Whitehorse shows with a four point win. She consistently went BOS to one of Canada's top ranked dogs throughout the
weekend (except when she was trounced by kennelmate & new champion that
weekend, Ch. Wyndsong's
Shiloh!).
At the Tanana
Valley Kennel Club shows at the end of May 2005, Journey earned a five point
major under Judge Carl Liepmann. At the Kenai
Kennel Club shows in Soldotna on July 10, 2005, she finished her American
title in breathtaking style under Judge Ralph Ambrosio -- going BOB from the open AOAC class over six
worthy specials, including a Eukanuba ranked dog. She followed that up
with a Group Two in a very competitive Herding Group, coming in behind a very
competitive Best In Show border collie up from the "Lower 48" and
ahead of a multiple Best In Show collie.
We are very
proud of our Journey!
