Thank
you, Judge Pat Hastings! Six singles to go!
"Nice sable bitch with beautiful expression, lovely dark eye, level
topline, good bone and excellent rear extension in her side gait." Judge
Jan Leonard
2006
National
Mylea nearly stopped my heart during her recent appearance at
the 2006 ASSA National in Virginia Beach. We were in the 12-18 sable
bitch class, and Mark Hersman was showing her for me, as I had Shiloh in the
ring as well. Shiloh wasn't feeling well, as she had just gone
through two days of tummy troubles. So I was taking it easy with her,
and watching my other girl go around the ring. Watching
her move, my heart was exploding with love and pride! She had wonderful
reach and drive, and was such a charming soul. When Mark and Mylea were
pulled to first place, I about keeled over. Just before sending the
class around for the final time, they were replaced by another beautiful
bitch, and that's how the class was placed. It didn't matter to
me... First would have been wonderful, but just being in the ribbons at
the National is honor enough. Mylea has more than
fulfilled every hope I had for her, and more. She finished her
championship in fine style, going Best Opposite Sex over a special for a four
point major in Boise, then earning her final point in Oregon. (Thank
you, Gary and Ashlie Whitmore for showing this girl to her final points so
beautifully, and for your wonderful comments about her!)

Thank you to Mark Hersman for showing Miss
Mylea
to a nice Best in Sweeps win at the
Northern Nevada Shetland Sheepdog Specialty

Miss Mylea
winning a four point major under
Judge Roger Hartinger at seven months of age
This exciting
little girl is making us very proud. On the first day of her very first
show at seven months of age, Mylea won a nice, fat 4 point major! She
hadn't even been formally ring trained yet! Shortly after that, she joined Mark Hersman and his family in California for
the Northern Nevada and the NorCal specialties. She scored a Best in
Sweeps at Northern Nevada, and won a very nice class at NorCal. She came
home to win a 5 pt major Specialty reserve under Judge Bernadette Biasi and a
2 pt. best of winners the following day. Out of coat, she still managed
to catch the eye of our judge at the 2007 National, and came home to win
another major under Judge Pat Hastings. Six singles to go!
Miss Mylea is
my second chance baby from this spectacular litter... Sadly, I lost my pick bitch to an extremely fast acting pneumonia following
debark surgery. She was
Wyndsong's Jewel O'Caledon, a gorgeously balanced, outgoing girl with
incredible reach and drive.
The phone call
to Jewel's co-breeder was one of the most painful calls I've ever made.
But when I told Barbara Aulbach, she immediately offered me the litter sister
to replace Jewel. Deeply touched, I turned her down -- I didn't want to
take advantage of Barbara's unselfish generousity, especially since it was
made during a very emotional phone call.
On a subsequent
visit to Barbara's home in Oregon, she again made the offer. And this
time, I accepted. Mylea came home with me and a few short weeks later
won a four point major on the first day of her very first show!
She is following in her illustrious dad's footsteps.... he achieved a Best In
Specialty Show (BISS) and a Group placement, and finished... by nine months of
age, if I'm not mistaken.
Mylea's dam is Caledon
Revelry "Reva," a Ch. Braeleen's Matinee Idol "Beau"
daughter out of Barbara Aulbach's terrific producer, Caledon Catera.
Reva made the cut (out of coat) at the 2004 National, showing off her reach
and drive despite sulking over all the grooming that was going on!
Her daughter Mylea is a
beautiful girl with an absolutely darling "look at me!"
personality. She has a gorgeous, smooth head, beautiful eye, flat
topline, good angulation, and wonderful movement. She
is everything I had hoped for when I chose Johnny as the sire for Mylea's
dam. If anyone can bring me comfort after losing my beautiful Jewel,
this little one can.
A repeat of
this litter (all boys!) was born July 24, 2006 at Caledon Kennels in Oregon. A
boy is growing up in Fairbanks, waiting to blossom into his show
potential.

Miss Mylea at seven months of
age

A casual Mylea at seven months -- already
so much coat you can't
quite see the rear angulation... but who's complaining!
Mylea is a
lover and a "nibbler." If you aren't paying a sufficient amount of
attention to her, or are loving up to another puppy too much, she is very
handy with the love nips... those little nibbles that shelties can do so
well!
This little gal
doesn't know a stranger. As Mark Hersman says, she considers
herself to be the "Hostess with the Mostest," greeting all newcomers
with enthusiasm, fully expecting them to worship at her feet. And she
loves to play! If she can't entice other dogs to play, she invents games
to amuse herself.
Charming,
loveable, utterly beautiful, this little gal has my heart wrapped around her
little toes.

Mylea and Jewel at six weeks of
age.
Thank you,
Barbara, for sharing this beautiful girl with me, and for joining me in
dreaming about her possibilities!!
