Winners
Dog at the Peace Arch Herding Specialty at Canada's largest dog show as a 2 yr old
-- Lower
Mainland Dog Fanciers, Abbottsford, BC, October 2002
Rascal
is one of the most intelligent dogs I have ever encountered. I
often joke that I could ask him to run to the store for me, and that he
would come back with everything I had asked for, and probably pay for it with his charm alone!
CONFORMATION:
Rascal was slow to mature, but when he began winning, it was in fine
style. He quickly attained three five point majors to finish his AKC
championship, including
two specialty majors, and has points in Canada with limited showing. Along the way, he
has guided his boy, Michael, to multiple placements and wins in competitive
junior handling, along with other juniors in Canadian shows where they are not
required to own the dog they exhibit, and obtained his International
championship.
OBEDIENCE:
Rascal obtained his AKC CD at 13 mos of age with four first place finishes all
in the mid 190's, except for one that was 197.5. He was ready to
compete for his CDX a few months later, and we are currently working
on some utility exercises. He has already earned his CDX in Canada. With this boy's brains and
desire
to please, we can go just about anywhere in the performance
realm. AGILITY:
Rascal
finished his Novice Jumpers w/Weaves (NAJ) agility title at the competitive
Portland shows in January 2003, handled by his favorite
person in all the world, my son Michael. In July 2003, he finished in Novice
Standard and moved up to Open Standard the next day, earning a
perfect 100 score and 2nd place for his first open leg! He has since
finished his open standard title and will be working toward his
excellent. He has one leg toward his OAJ, but we expect to obtain
that in the very near future. HERDING:
I guess we need to get started on sheep! THERAPY:
This multi-talented dog recently tested for his therapy dog certification, earning
the complex category, enabling us to visit the most challenging of venues, from pediatric wards to impaired living. We
look forward to sharing this wonderful, talented dog with children and adults who are experiencing difficult times in their lives. BEST
BUDDY: Rascal's most
important role is that of best friend and companion to my sixteen year old
son. Michael ponied up $200 of his own money (I paid the rest!) to
purchase him in July 2000. He could not have selected a more devoted
companion -- Rascal worships the ground Michael walks on. If away from his
boy, and you ask him, "Where's your boy? or Where's Michael?" he will
scan his surroundings in search of him.
